Hell freezes over

A Republican is apologizing.

In an encounter last night in the lobby of a New York hotel, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan apologized for denouncing a former White House colleague, Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism adviser, after Clarke wrote a book highly critical of the Bush administration in 2004.

Now McClellan is facing a similar denunciation from the White House for his own highly critical book.

"I should have known how personal it would get when they went after me, well, I mean, after what I said about you," Clarke says McClellan told him in the lobby of New York's Essex House.

"I think I can forgive you now," Clarke says he replied.

About this movie...

This movie made me sad.

For one thing, it didn't have this guy-Denholm Elliot:

Or this guy-John Rhys-Davies:

Don't get me wrong. It was a nice movie. Kate Blanchet played a good villain. But it was just too campy. The whole movie had a cartoony almost video game style pacing the set itself apart from the earlier trilogy.

It's worth seeing on the big screen of course. Unfortunately the fourth captures little of the magic that made the previous three so memoriable and good.

Thank you for your service....

Our men and women in our Armed Forces don't fight for a king or queen...

They don't fight for the promise of loot or plunder...

They fight for their country...

Their blood and bone was drafted to man the barricades against totalitarianism...

They are our uncles, dads, brothers, fathers, mothers, daughters, sons...

They've volunteered...

Today is for the men and women that never made it home with their life...

Giving their life in service of our republic is the noblest of sacrifices. Those families that have been personally affected with the loss of a loved on in military service have my sincerest condolescences.

American GIs did work for Chinese interrogators in Gitmo

ABC found some disturbing allegations in the latest DoJ issued report on Gitmo:

U.S. Army troops stand guard over Sally Port One at Camp Delta where detainees are held at the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
(REUTERS/Joe Skipper)
More PhotosU.S. military personnel at Guantanamo Bay allegedly softened up detainees at the request of Chinese intelligence officials who had come to the island facility to interrogate the men -- or they allowed the Chinese to dole out the treatment themselves, according to claims in a new government report.

Buried in a Department of Justice report released Tuesday are new allegations about a 2002 arrangement between the United States and China, which allowed Chinese intelligence to visit Guantanamo and interrogate Chinese Uighurs held there.

My best wishes to Senator Kennedy.

Unless you've been under a rock you've heard by now that Senator Kennedy had a seizure on Saturday and has been in the hospital since. It turns out today we learn that he has a brain tumor. According to one expert from ABC, the prognosis is 1 to 5 years depending on the tumor.

Personally I've seen my middle aged uncle's experience with a brain tumor almost 8 years ago and he's still riding a motorcycle.

I wish Senator Kennedy all the best for a speedy recovery and return to the business of the Nation.

Step aside Niko Bellic, it's time for Skarin!

I suddenly have a taste for herring...

Today Kentucky and Oregon votes...

Kentucky will probably be a 10-15 point win-let's call it 12.3 pt win for HRC. I think Obama will win Oregon by 5%.

When it comes to Oregon, we probably won't know until tomorrow.

Right Wing nut gets smacked down by Matthews.

And it's hilarious.

For those unfamiliar with Craigslist rightwingers....

DailyKos fanmail

...Kos got a pretty good taste of it the other day when O'Reilly focused his fans in the Daily Kos.

Here's a sample:

You have gone too far with this liberal, fascist bullshit....sit down and SHUT UP and stop posting despicable stories to further your own ends. I am sick and tired of the radical left and I hope people like Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck can exert their influence to SHUT YOU DOWN!!!!! If you don't like America, get the fuck out!

It's funny he calls DK fascist bullshit and in the next breath says in caps to sit down and shut up like a good little fascist free speech hater.

Honestly after a while you just learn to ignore it.

Tonight's poll question....

This question is a thinker for me. Obviously Hitler would want his german shepherd to come back in roughly the same condition as when he handed it off-physically and mentally.

O'Reilly I think could honestly emotionally scar an animal. Cavuto is most likely to get distracted by babes with boobs. Doocey would most likely get bitten by the dog...and that leaves Sean Hannity.

I think Sean is probably the most responsible dog owner out of the bunch.

But Hell I could be wrong...

h/t to The Huffington Post.

Happy Mother's Day to all except...

...those parents of Republican Congressmen.

Your little demon spawn couldn't even vote to celebrate motherhood in Congress last week. Here's what I'm talking about:

It was named House Resolution 1113, "Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day."

At 2:19 p.m., in an orgy of bipartisan comity, H. Res. 1113 passed 412-0.

But then, Rep. Todd Tiahrt, a Kansas Republican, stood up to ask that the House "reconsider" the vote -- a standard delaying tactic. Rep. Kathy Castor, a Florida Democrat, moved to table Tiahrt's request.

Tonight's Artist-Taiyo Na

I just caught this guy live at a Pan Asian Pacific American festival.

This song is about his mother who was an immigrant. It reminded me that when it comes to immigration in this country, the mothers raising kids here legally or even illegally have it the hardest of all.

I wish all mothers a Happy Mother's Day and especially to those, who Americans seldom think about, women raising children in a country they themselves didn't grow up in.

The song is called "Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother)."

Hey Pubwoof, you'll like this....

Obama said: "We need to separate money from political influence. It's an experiment in open source politics," Obama told a crowd of supporters in Silicon Valley. "One thing that I am considering, and my advisers might not like this: I may limit campaign contribution amounts per person to less than the federal limit in the general election."

h/t to my girlfriend...

While Obamamania resurges, things are looking grim for the GOP...

Yup...when you can't win in a district that you've held since 1975, these kind of stories get written:

Shellshocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s money.

The double shot of bad news had one veteran Republican House member worrying aloud that the party’s electoral woes — brought into sharp focus by Woody Jenkins’ loss to Don Cazayoux in Louisiana on Saturday — have the House Republican Conference splitting apart in “everybody for himself” mode.

“There is an attitude that, ‘I better watch out for myself, because nobody else is going to do it,’” the member said. “There are all these different factions out there, everyone is sniping at each other, and we have no real plan. We have a lot of people fighting to be the captain of the lifeboat instead of everybody pulling together.”

Here's some good news...

Barack Obama got the Guam vote.
Obama wins Guam!

And second and probably more importantly, the Dems added another House member.

Meet Don Cazayoux, winner of a special election in a blood red district in Louisiana.

Bush carried this district handedly in 2004, and the Repugs were expected to win. However Cazayoux won by 3 points.
