It's split alright...

You have to see this example of Fair and Balanced reportage from FauxNews:

Yeah 95% of the room in favor of Obama is what Mainstreeters would call "split." Sure...

R2K Poll 9/30/08 has Obama at 51 and McCain at 41.

Obama has opened up a ten point lead in DKos's R2K poll. The data was collected over the week end, so you're starting to see the effects of the debate in the polling.

Tonight's Featured Artist-Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Here he is with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."

The McCain campaign is imploding.

That's what we're seeing. Monday started with a crisis on Wall Street. Bush and Congress were telling us that we needed to do something big in response. And what does McCain do? He announces he's suspending his campaign and may not even show up to the debate on Friday to give full attention to the bail out.

But he didn't really suspend his campaign. His surrogates went out and Palin did a god awful interview. McCain commercials aired on TV.

On Thursday he goes to the White House and blows up the deal that the House Dems and Teasury Secretary Paulson worked out. McCain does all this without even offering a plan of his own or indicating he's even starting working on one. It should be noted that the House Republicans are against the proposed plan too, but their plan, instead of being some viable rational alternative, is nothing but more tax breaks for corporations without addressing any of the causes for this mess in the first place.

On Friday McCain shows up to the debate. There's no bailout plan. There is no plan operative right now at all. McCain flip flopped in 24 hours with nothing to show for it.

Whether McCain had a stroke or not, he is acting very erratically. And that's not good.

Post Debate

McCain came across like a crazy old man that never listened to anyone.

That's just me though.

Ted Kennedy was rushed back the hospital.

It's being reported that he was alert and conscious. He called 911 because he wasn't feeling well. Let's hope it's not serious.

McCain moves to cancel Friday's debate-Mr Bold calls him chicken.

That's right McCain. There is absolutely no valid excuse to cancel Friday's debate. John McCain is a C-H-I-C-K-E-N. That's right chicken.

He knows he's going to get his butt wooped by Obama and he is cynically using the current crisis as an excuse to not show up on Friday. It's transparent and it's shameless.

Here he is doing "Stardust."

The numbers are trending back to Obama's favor.

I checked the DKos poll and it's Obama 49-McCain 43. The Palin bounce is over as voters get better informed of her views. McCain still looks like a continuation of Bush policy which has led to record deficits and a failing economy.

And let's not discount Obama. He's swinging hard at McCain-

That's what someone who lives in reality sounds like on the campaign trail.

RIP Richard Wright-Pink Floyd founder dies at 65

It's truly a sad for Floyd fans. Richard Wright, the group's keyboardist died today from cancer. He was 65.

What this guy did for the sound of the band can be seen by comparing "Dark Side of The Moon" to the only album he was not on "The Final Cut."

This is from their Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. Here is Pink Floyd playing "Great Gig In The Sky" in Italy.

If you need some good news...

...in a day that saw Wall Street calamity and a natural catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico-

Obama's numbers are going back up and McCain's are trending down again.

And it's actually quite a good introduction into rightwing theology.

Right now Obama is at 47 and McCain is at 46 nationally. So while it's one on the plus side, it's not great news.

Tonight's Featured Artists-The Filipino prison system...

Here they are doing "The Hustle."

Well it's seven years later.

I feel like the last seven years was a massive waste of time when it comes to avenging 9/11. Osama bin Laden is still running around just east of where he was 7 years ago in Pakistan and we're committed to security missions in Iraq.

Looking around it seems our economy has been in stasis like Ground Zero. Our financial sector has never been quite the same since that day. The Freedom Tower remains on the drawing board. The pluck...the we can do anything spirit has never returned since that day.

You know if in the early 1990s you said to me, "A smirking chimp will take control, deregulate, destroy, bankrupt the country." I would have laughed. "Impossible!"

9/11 lengthened the Bush nightmare we live under. Nightmares like wiretapped phones, gulags in Cuba, torture of POWs and the general screwing up of every government institution that ensure citizen safety and well being.

I hate this day. I hate this day because the cretins won.

Obama hits back...

Obama breaks it down for people pretty effectively here-

He is still awesome. He's awesome because he accepts reality.

If your having trouble reading it, double click on the image for a clearer view.

You want to hear somethin' f&@ked up?

Palin as mayor of Wasilla charged rape victims for rape kits. Rape kits are the evidence collecting tool used shortly after the rape occurred. Meaning yeah, she demanded that fresh rape victims pony up as little as $300 up to $1200 dollars for this necessary prosecution tool.

Frontiersman-Sex Assualt Bill

Fortunately Governor Knowles signed a law in 2000 to end this practice. Palin was mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. So for 4 years, and until it was legislated against on a state level, this was Palin's policy.

Conservatives just can't stand having problems with their worldview pointed out and being called an idiot at the same time. They're such little puritanical reality-denying fascists.

Tonight's Featured Artists-Procol Harum

A blogger,Deoliver47, at DKos thought of this tune watching the RNC convention tonight. It seemed to have the appropriate dirge quality and I agree.

It's Procul Harum's "Whiter Shade of Pale."

Post Palin speech

First I have to say-geez the audience looks freakin' old. And there's not a lot of them. The RNC couldn't fill the convention theater and I would think her speech is something that should have been something to pack a house. That's a strike I think.

About her speech. She said something up front about being accused of being a "cheerleader from the West"...and then proceeded to sound like a cheerleader. I mean that in the "I'm gonna make some stuff up to pump up the crowd" kind of way when cheerleaders tell salacious rumors about the other team in taunts.

And man that voice. She's got the sound of Jean the deputy from the movie "Fargo" quality that could get old real fast.

The Republican Convention looked like a Riot.

Literally. Not to worry though, the police remembered to bring the smoke, and concussion grenades. There was good coverage of the war at the convention. Poor CNN reporter said it was some sort of chemical agent.

Fred Thompson's speech was laughable. He blames the democrats for the last 8 years of "Happy Days" I come out of tonight's coverage of the Republican convention feeling a lot better about the Democrats run.
