Ron Paul funnies-get them while they're hot...

I hate to take so up so much blog space on Ron Paul. His performance in primaries positively stinks. Any normal sane politician with his numbers would be dropping out right now-as the sane ones have.

But not Ron Paul. The skinny on the 'net is that he's saving his war chest that he's amassed, and never spent up til now, for a 3rd party run.

Well I hope so. If anything Ron Paul inspires bloggers who bring some needed comic relief from the Paulbots.

Here's KoranPaul's vid on what would happen if Ron Paul was elected.

Giuliani departure imminent

Oh you old gal-we thought you had the legs for it.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Rudy Giuliani, who bet his presidential hopes on Florida only to come in third, prepared to quit the race Tuesday and endorse his friendliest rival, John McCain.

Giuliani quits

Here's a lady that makes a point that is worth repeating....

Many Americans, particularly Conservatives seem to think that a middle class is part of the natural order of things. A middle class just magically appears when the individual is unencumbered by things like...taxes.

This lady reminds us that rich and poor is the natural order of things and the middle class only arose once the government stepped in and supported things like unions, labor laws and safety nets.

This comes by way of Cliff Schecter-

SOTU coverage

I will not be able to live blog tonight's Geyser of Bullshit aka The State of Union Address due to technical diffuculties.

As an alternative for Boldly Liberal readers I'd recommend Thinkprogress's blog.

Open discussion thread-the SOTU drinking game

Well we're coming up to the final State of the Union address delivered by Preznit Sh*t 4 Brainz.

I hoping to do some live blogging for this one-if my cable connection holds up. And I do mean hold up. It seems my cable line likes to fall off my building and into the street to be run over repeatedly.

That being said, to make the feat of live blogging the SOTU that much more death defying, I'm willing to take a drink of something alcoholic whenever the President says a pre-chosen, by us, word.

So let's have your suggestions for words you think the Prez will definitely use.

I might as well as kick it off with 9/11 and freedom.

I will update this post as comments come in.

Thanks in advance.

Update:

Goodbye Heath

Daniel Day-Lewis captures best my feelings about Heath Ledger:

"He didn't know Heath but 'I have an impression, a strong impression i would have liked him very much as a man if I had."

Daniel Day-Lewis video

Heath's life and career could have inspired the tagline from "A Knight's Tale":
"From peasant to knight; one man can change his stars"

Heath, and what we can only imagine would have been a career of making great movies, will be missed.

Tonight's Featured Artist "Green Day"

The song "Paper Lanterns" from the 94 Woodstock concert. I really love this video. Playing rock-n-roll looks like fun. If you're not a fan of Green Day give the video a chance it's great.

If you want to see some more from this mud fight go to You Tube and search "Green Day Woodstock" some real funny clips from that show.

Dennis Kucinich drops out

There goes the guy that represents my views on policy issues.

You ran a good race Kucinich.

Fundies say the darnedest things....

Finally someone has succinctly compiled some of the craziest scribblings of Christian fundies all in one place.

Get your fresh Fundie thought right here.

Here's one sample:

One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it. [emphasis added]

Hmmm, I wonder how this fundie could forget about the Sun?

935 false statements in lead up to Iraq.

I'm sure Conservatives will just stick their heads in the sand on this one.

Bush & Co. lie report

Good stuff.

Update:
Malkin calls it a Soros funded conspiracy based on allegations that have already been debunked before spoon fed to the main stream me-dee-ya.

Malkin promptly sticks head in sand

In response I'd like to say that Michelle Malkin is a Scaife and Murdoch financed propagandist who continues to ignore evidence that Bush & Co. systematically down played and ignored intelligence analysts' misgivings about assertions that Saddam had WMD or Al Qaeda links.

Tonight's Featured Artist. Live "White Discussion"

From the album "Throwing Copper". This song pops into my head whenever Bush gives his state of the union address. I thought it was a good fit for today. Less than a year to go for king Bush.

Fred Thompson drops out.

Oh it seems like only yesterday that Fred Thompson entered the race with the wife that sent all the pundits a titter. Reaganites thought that Fred answered their prayers. He was good looking, smooth talking, folksy, honest-basically all the things Conservatives weren't finding in their candidates.

Alas the dream ends today.

So long Fred and bon chance mon ami.

I feel a disturbance in the Force....

One thing that this election cycle has made clear, the Democratic candidates are outraising the Republicans almost 2-1.

So what happened to the Republican money?

Two words: Freedom Watch.

What is Freedom Watch? As the Washington Post puts it:

"A Conservative Answer to MoveOn-Political Advocacy Group Formed by Former Bush Aides Plans a Broad Agenda"

Apparently this new wingnut group has amassed 250 million.

So far all they've got is a banner on their website-
Is that all they got?

I wonder which Freedom they will watch out for first?

This just about sums up the Republican American dream...

Tonights Featured Artist.

This is a letter to Laura Bush from Henry Rollins. A little something different for "The Featured Artist" segment. Hope you don't mind MrBold.

I've been a big Henry Rollins fan since the days with Black Flag.

Is there nothing the GOP won't whine about?

Well it looks like the Madam Speaker continues to ruffle GOP feathers. She hits the Republicans this time right where it hurts.

Their stomachs.

It seems the Democrats have ushered in a new fresh menu into the congressional cafeteria and predictably, the Republicans whine:

“I really don’t like Nanny Nancy telling me what I can and cannot eat for lunch. If I want to eat unhealthy, I should have that choice!” the aide fumed."

This is a great new band. I hope you enjoy.

Army sends medically unfit troops back to Iraq

You know this war is getting bad when DoD has to send wounded vets back into a combat zone.

The Denver Post reports:

Capt. Scot Tebo's e-mail was, in part, a reference to Master Sgt. Denny Nelson, a 19-year Army veteran, who was sent overseas last month despite doctors' orders that he not run, jump or carry more than 20 pounds for three months because of a severe foot injury.

Wounded Vets being redeployed

The way this Administration is treating our troops is shameful.

GOP congresswoman "It's great you have to work 2 jobs!"

Ah these are strange times my friends-strange times. I was brought up to believe that the American dream was a 40 hour work week, 3 weeks at least of vacation, a pension and the promise that your kids would do better than their parents.

Well not according to Republicans. Bush when confronted by a lady in 2005 who said she worked 3 jobs said:

"You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn’t it? I mean, that is fantastic that you’re doing that."

Uniquely American? Not really. We've seen this before during the days of the robber barons and Eduardian England. Heck I'm pretty sure these labor standards go on in China and other 3rd world countries where the worker is treated like a dog.

Lest you might think this was an isolated moment of truth telling on the part of the Preznit, another GOPer expressed roughly the same sentiments:

"I am so proud to be from the state of Minnesota. We’re the workingest state in the country, and the reason why we are, we have more people that are working longer hours, we have people that are working two jobs." Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)

Today's featured artist- SRV

There is no official video for the song, so I made one up myself. Stevie Ray was killed in a helicopter crash back in 1990. I seen him once at the Fox Theater, my big brother took me. It was a great show. "Life by the drop"

GOP Congressman helped bin Laden linked organization

I've often jokingly said, "We should demand the Rethugs take a pledge not to take money from terrorists" in reference to Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari.

It seems now the GOP also has the problem laundering money for terrorists:

WASHINGTON - A former congressman and delegate to the United Nations was indicted Wednesday as part of a terrorist fundraising ring that allegedly sent more than $130,000 to an al-Qaida and Taliban supporter who has threatened U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan.

The Yankee Texan begs Saudies for more oil

This is just sad:

One hour after his plea for more Saudi oil was publicly rejected by the kingdom's oil minister, President Bush made a private visit to Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to again ask him to open the spigots.

ABC News.

America is reduced to begging for oil.

Well it looks like another member of the G[ang] o[f] P[edophiles] lost another congressman to the lobby firms. Following in the foot steps of Trent "Strom was right on miscegenation" Lott, House Rep. Richard Baker of Louisiana is retiring to become a lobbyist.

And what is the industry that requires Baker's gifts?

A dedicated Paulie posts in NYC Craigslist Politics

Earlier I written in the Passion of the Paulies about a nice blogpost by guy named Sultan Knish.

One of Paul's ardent supporters took offense to Sultan's blog. I copied his response in it's entirety below.

The Reverand said one thing that cracked me up:

"The term "Neo-Confederate" means "new Confederate" I am not a "new" Confederate rather I support the historical cause that the South fought for from 1861-65 and I support the legal claims that the Southern States have for independence."

I'm pretty sure the Reverand was born well after the birth, rise and fall of the Confederacy. In every sense of the word the Reverand is a new Confederate.

Like most screeds written by crazy people, there's a lot of ways to show where the good Reverand goes wrong. But the above was about the most cockamamie thing I've read yet.

Here's is the Reverand's original response post. He cross posted it on his blog. You can find that here:

The slightly lesser known member of the music Trinity...

I had a saxophone teacher one time who told me about this guy.

I said, "Teach, who's Eddie Harris?"

He replied, "He's part of the holy trinity. Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane and Eddie Harris."

Enjoy.

MoveOn.org raises $300,000 for the troops.

"MoveOn members are committed to seeing our troops come home as quickly as possible and we'll keep working to make that happen,” the group said in the appeal it sent on Thursday to 3.3 million people on its e-mail list. “But right now, supporting the USO is a simple way to make a genuine difference in the lives of brave men and women who've sacrificed a lot for our country.”

Finding my way.

Im new to the Blog world so this is a test post of sort. Hope you enjoy.

The Passion of the Paulies

I love beating up on Paulies. I do. It's fun.

Why? Because they want to be on the right side. They really believe they discovered some simple truth and if we just lived like Ayn Rand told us-the world would be a utopia. A libertopia if you will. A libertopia where you are free to discriminate. Roads and highways, police departments and libraries-just magically pay for themselves.

So when their prophet for President, Ron Paul revealed himself capable of lying like any other Republican politician, the Paulies freak out.

This blogger catalogues a Paulie's freak out and rationalization. It's about the funniest god d*mn thing I've read all day.

UPDATE
CNN offers a good write up to the backstory on this.

It just makes you go hmmmm....

Indescribable.
