Palin as mayor of Wasilla charged rape victims for rape kits. Rape kits are the evidence collecting tool used shortly after the rape occurred. Meaning yeah, she demanded that fresh rape victims pony up as little as $300 up to $1200 dollars for this necessary prosecution tool.
Fortunately Governor Knowles signed a law in 2000 to end this practice. Palin was mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. So for 4 years, and until it was legislated against on a state level, this was Palin's policy.
