Back in January Governor Paterson of New York appointed Blue Dog Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to finish out Senator Clinton's term in the Senate. That set up a special election to be held on March 31st.
Gillibrand's district, the area north and south of Albany, leans Conservative. The GOP is hoping a win with their candidate Jimmy Tedisco will signal the high water mark of the left wing tide.
The state Dems, frankly disappointed with Paterson's Gillibrand decision, nevertheless are fighting it out under the banner of Missouri native, Scott Murphy.
Scott two weeks ago was twenty points down in the polls. Now he's closed within 4 points of Jimmy Disco.
