David Frum goes on the attack with Rachel Maddow

And Maddow remains unflappable through it all.

Frum tries to advance the argument that right wingers and left wingers are equally guilty of coursening and dumbing down our national dialogue. This is an argument you will find whenever you bring up the sheer visciousness of right wing attacks.

Give it a watch and tell me what you think.

I watched that interview lastnight on her show. It looked to me that he was there to throw a surprise bomb, and change the context of the interview, when he did change the focus of the original subject of the interview, she quickly challenged him, and didn't just let him throw his bombs without her defending what she thought was right. It was good to see her think on her feet, and not just sit there like a deer in the headlights. She is a intelligent woman.

Yeah he thought he was going to surprise her, but right wing visciousness is a popular subject and we get this "both sides are the same" jazz all the time. What's so funny is that I agree with you that Frum was prepared to go into this subject, but beyond her "tone" he had nothing really to say.

And I dont' think there is. Frum and his ilk demonize their opposition not based in any reality. Frum doesn't listen to liberals and instead listen to their buddies characterizations of what liberals say and pretend that's a liberal position or argument.
